Welcome to SOTP (sotp.ch), a collaborative real-time pixel art platform. By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the collaborative features of SOTP, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. As this is an academic project developed at School 42, these terms are subject to change as the platform evolves.

2. Eligibility and Registration

  • Member-Only Access: Access to the collaborative canvas, chat rooms, and personal galleries is strictly reserved for authenticated users.
  • Authentication: SOTP offers both Google OAuth and direct account registration (email/password). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials and account access.
  • Guest Limitations: Users who are not logged in are restricted to viewing public landing pages and cannot contribute to the canvas or chat.

3. Rules of Conduct

To maintain a productive and safe collaborative environment, you agree not to:

  • Post or draw content that is illegal, offensive, or violates third-party copyrights.
  • Use automated bots, scripts, or "spammers" to manipulate the canvas or chat.
  • Attempt to bypass security measures, including rate-limiting or room authorization protocols.
  • Interfere with the real-time experience of other users.

4. User-Generated Content (UGC)

  • Ownership: You retain all intellectual property rights to the pixel art you create on SOTP.
  • License to Display: By contributing to a public or shared canvas, you grant SOTP a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your work on the platform for collaborative purposes.
  • Collaborative Nature: You acknowledge that other members may interact with, modify, or overwrite pixels on a shared canvas in real-time.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

Our data handling practices, including technical provisions, storage lifecycle, account deletion, and anonymization, are governed by our Privacy Policy. Please refer to our Privacy Policy (GDPR / RGPD) for full details.

6. Limitation of Liability

SOTP is provided "as is" and "as available" for academic and portfolio purposes.

  • No Warranty: We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • Data Loss: While we perform auto-saving, we are not liable for any loss of artwork or data due to technical failures.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
